Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is proposing a mental health leave policy for county employees. This proposal comes after Hidalgo's own experience with clinical depression.
In 2023, she took a leave of absence from her role to receive treatment at a facility outside of Texas. The leave lasted for two months, during which time she received inpatient care.
